Eastern Conference Finals Predictions

So normally I’ve been doing each round as a whole but because the Clippers couldn’t close out the Nuggets earlier I am doing the Eastern Conference tonight. I don’t want to make my prediction after Game 1 has already happened even if I keep the same outcome. With that being said here we go…

Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics

Unless you are a fan of the Heat no one thought Giannis and the Bucks wouldn’t be playing in the ECF. After Miami stunned them however, winning in a very convincing 5 games they see themselves matched up with the young Celtics in a rematch of the 2012 ECF. Although it is a rematch from 8 years ago there is nothing familiar for both of these teams besides Miami having their same head coach and Udonis Haslem giving moral support on the bench. The Celtics have now been in 3 of the last 4 ECF which is crazy to think about especially when you consider the star power that has moved around on their team the last few years. Miami is back for the first time since 2014 thanks to the wonderful off season moves they made to bring in the veteran Jimmy Butler along with drafting/signing 3 rookies who have all been key contributors to their success. This will be a very competitive series as both teams have a lot of depth and can beat you in so many ways. Jimmy Butler showed against the Bucks that if he needs to dominate a game then that’s what he’ll do. They also have terrific shooting across the board so if they get hot it will be very tough for Boston to keep up with them. Boston also has a number of different ways they can beat with their young stars. Having a team where 5 different players can easily get you 20 points and a couple of those 5 can increase that to 30 isn’t something every team has. Gordon Hayward is ruled out for Game 1 but is expected to return at some point during this series. He will be a huge factor in this series if he comes back at 100% and will be another player the Heat will have to game plan for. While I think this will be a very competitive series and I wouldn’t be shocked if over half the games are decided in the final minute I have to go with the Boston Celtics getting back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010. I believe they are the more experienced team and just have to much talent on their roster with their young stars and their veterans.
